WHEN VACCINES CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY

In very rare cases, a vaccine can cause a serious problem, such as a severe allergic reaction.

In these instances, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) may provide financial compensation to individuals who file a petition and are found to have been injured by a VICP-covered vaccine. Even in cases in which such a finding is not made, petitioners may receive compensation through a settlement. Our vaccine injury lawyers will help you through the legal process.

RARE VACCINE INJURIES

While vaccines are necessary to maintain public health and safety, like any other form of medical treatment, they can cause serious health problems for some people. In fact, just last year, over 48,000 people reported adverse reactions and/or side effects from vaccinations to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.

Vaccines save lives by preventing disease.

Most people who get vaccines have no serious problems. Vaccines, like any medicines, can cause side effects, but most are very rare and very mild. Some health problems that follow vaccinations are not caused by vaccines.

In very rare cases, a vaccine can cause a serious problem, such as a severe allergic reaction.  In this case, you it will be in your best interest to hire a vaccine injury lawyer. Your vaccine lawyer does not have to be local as these claims are brought to the Court of Federal Claims, in Washington, D.C.

What happens when vaccines go wrong?

If you or a loved one are injured by a vaccine or a vaccine has caused the death of a loved one, there is a program set up by Congress to provide compensation for that injury or death. The program is called the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and asking for compensation is a little like a lawsuit. There are, however, important differences. One difference is how compensation is calculated and the reasons for those calculations. The money you can recover, whether recovered through the VICP or through a typical lawsuit, is called, "damages." Damages refers to the specific types of harm for which you can receive money. In the VICP, victims of a vaccine injury can receive compensation for any wages that were lost because of the injury, any past out-of-pocket medical expenses (which were not reimbursable by insurance or another source), and actual future medical needs (also, which are not reimbursable by another source). For these (typically called "economic" damages) you can show these by receipts, tax returns, etc... There is a defined amount which you lost, spent, or will have to spend, and that can often be calculated with precision.
