Multiple Sclerosis and Vaccines

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, the exact cause or causes of which are still largely unknown. The question of whether vaccines can cause or trigger MS has been addressed extensively in the medical literature. A study conducted at one of the country's premier medical institutions reported in 2012 that flu vaccines do not cause MS, and further there is no cause-and-effect relationship demonstrated between other routine vaccinations and the onset of MS.

Additional Risks Another question, maybe even of more concern, is whether patients who have been diagnosed with MS are at any additional risk for developing the disease was published on this issue. The consensus from numerous publications on this issue was that there was no medical evidence that vaccines either caused MS or exacerbated the symptoms of the disease. If you believe that you or a family member was injured as a result of a vaccine, you should seek legal advice to see if there might be a basis for recovery under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
