The firm’s Vaccine Injury Team just returned from a national Vaccine Injury conference in Washington, D.C. At the conference, the Department of Justice reported good news that nearly 80% of vaccine claims result in monetary compensation for the injured person. In fact, over the last five years, the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program has paid out between $200 million and $250 million each year to injured persons.
The most common injuries continue to be SIRVA (Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration), Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), and Brachial Neuritis. And the most common type of vaccination involved is the flu shot. Compensation for these injuries totals more than $218 million:
More and more people are suffering vaccine injuries as well. Over the last four years, more than a thousand new vaccine injury claims have been filed each year, with 2019 reaching an all-time high of 1282 new claims filed.
